TV shows on French iTunes store, movies expected for UK and Canada

Apple is progressively making video content available in more countries as the French iTunes store has opened this morning with a dozen of TV shows and rumours of movie download offerings in the U.K. and Canada start spreading on the Internet.

Since a few months, U.S. iTunes users enjoy a pretty large amount of video content both in TV shows and full movies but other countries have seen little of that experience yet.

But things appear to be on the move with Apple and its content partners as France is finally getting a few TV shows with pricing ranging between 1.49 and 2.49€ a peace.

Among content available in France, a few big successes such as LOST, Ugly Betty or Desperate housewifes but also some content from local productions such as Arte's channel "Le dessous des cartes" or the TF1 owned "Le Maître du Zodiaque".

Almost at the same time, rumours that U.K. and Canada could soon see the iTunes offering being extended to movies broke via The Times on the Internet.

The internationalization of video content availability on iTunes is certainly necessary for Apple to sell more Apple TVs outside the U.S. but will hardly be enough until the company makes the device itself more appealing than it currently is.
