Apple announces new iMac lineup
Apple has announced an all new iMac lineup during a special event where the press was invited today.
The new lineup comes in 20 inch and 24 inch form factors and features a redesigned aluminium and glass enclosure.
Four models are available, the entry-level starts at $1199 and features a 2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 250GB of storage and a 20 inch screen, the middle-end model is priced $1499 and includes a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM and 320GB of storage but retains the 20 inch form factor. The third model is priced $1799 and sports a 24 inch display, a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM and 320MB of storage. Finally, a fourth, super high speed model is priced $2299 and features a 2.8Ghz Core 2 Extreme processor, 2GB of RAM and 500GB of storage.
All the models are upgradable in terms of RAM and storage, respectively up to 4GB and 1TB (one 3.5 inch bay) and include a 8x DL SuperDrive. The entry-level model includes an ATI/AMD Radeon 2400 XT graphic chip with 128MB of memory while the three others include a Radeon HD 2600 Pro with 256MB of memory. All the line-up comes with a built-in iSight, Front Row, Apple Remote Tiger and iLife '08 pre-loaded.
Connectivity is,as usually, USB2, FireWire 400/800, Gigabit Ethernet, BlueTooth 2.0, 802.11n Wifi and video-out.
