Apple and AT&T announce official iPhone service plans, starting at $59.99 per month

Apple and AT&T jointly announced today three service plans to use with the iPhone, with the most affordable of them starting at $59.99 per month.

Following are the prices of the new service plans on a monthly basis:

- 450 minutes - $59.99
- 900 minutes - $79.99
- 1,350 minutes - $99.99

All three plans offer unlimited data, Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll-over minutes, and unlimited mobile-to-mobile.

Customers will have to pay a one time fee of $36.00 to activate their plan and are contractually commited for two years with AT&T.

Family plans priced respectively $80, $120 and $120 for 450, 900 or 1350 minutes and extra messages options will be provided by AT&T the day of the launch.

Activation will be possible through iTunes and won't require AT&T or Apple staff to do it. As previous reports revealed, the activation implies the creation of an iTunes account. Apple also said that iTunes will manage contacts, mails and media files syncing for the iPhone. An "Activation and Sync" video has been posted on the iPhone section of Apple's web site so as to illustrate this.

The iPhone is slated to be released this Friday at 6 p.m (Pacific).
