First demonstrations of Virtual PC 7 at Apple Expo are disappointing.

Submitted by Alexandros Roussos on Wed, 2004-09-01 23:23

During Paris Apple Expo 2004, Microsoft demonstrated its IBM PC emulation software Virtual PC. Most people who attended the demonstration were very disappointed by the performance of the product.

Let's try to translate the feelings of the french Magazine SVM Mac (found on VNUNet.fr) as it's a good summary of the demo attendees opinions : "there is an enormous disappointment from Microsoft Virtual PC 7. We were expecting a lot from this gateway between Microsoft and Apple. The product should have been taking advantage of the new technologies that Panther offers. However in the end we only have an almost identical program as the last version, except for compatibility with the G5 processor. It is slow and the graphics card support is not very good yet".

There were many hopes for this very long awaited new release of Virtual PC 7. But the result is probably not as good as what we had expected. Let's hope that further versions will bring acceptable speed. Be sure that I'll give you my own impressions as soon as I am able to test it myself, or if I attend a demo.
